Supacrete - Simply the Best

Supacrete Concrete Ltd started life out from behind the old "Rowe Motors" building on Cameron Road, Tauranga, New Zealand. With one Bedford truck, Don, the owner, lugged 40kg bags of cement up the back of the truck and manhandled the cement in. He then loaded the aggregate required, mixed it up with a bit of H20 and viola, had a load of "Simply the Best" CONCRETE all ready to be delivered to the expectant customer.

No job was to big to undertake or to small for Don to do, from paths, driveways, house slabs and many other applications, Don loaded up his little Bedford day after day and delivered the proverbial product on time every time.

Dons vision of "Simply The Best" blossomed and in time it was not only the product and service that he was becoming known for it was the smile and the positive attitude that only Simply the Best would do for his customers.

Dons customer base grew and a new site was required, with great thanks to David and Lewis Swap from J Swap Contractors in Matamata it was decided that Don could use the Swap owned property in Maleme St for his concrete operation, and he did.

Not once looking back, but only forward, the Company truck fleet grew, the staff grew and everybody learned, but still the moto remained. "Simply the Best".

Eventually other suppliers were sourced, in the way of technical requirements, colour, additives, equipment and various other areas, relationships were begun and the little concrete company kept supplying that quality product so well known while the growth continued.

Over 20 years the original batching plant has been modified, rebuilt, modified and rebuilt again, always getting bigger and better, always sourcing and utilizing the latest equipment to make the product better, to make the staff more comfortable, to make the systems work faster, better, more efficient, to keep to the company moto of "Simply the Best."

In 2007 Don embarked on a totally new journey and undertook to build a brand new state of the art, fully automated concrete plant. With his right hand man, Bryan Fraser from Bryan Fraser Engineering, these two men single handedly designed and built what is today the fastest automated concrete batching plant in the area boasting componentry and information technology (IT) sourced worldwide. Don was pleased back in 1989 when he could produce 100 cubic metres per month, now this little batching plant can produce that within an hour.

With 19 readymix trucks now in the fleet delivering Dons quality product to customers all over the Bay of Plenty, the single little Green and White Concrete Truck seems a long time ago but this little guy will always be remembered as the Beginning Bedford, and loved by all whom drove him.
